The upcoming open world venture of Sierra Entertainment and Radical Entertainment can only be described as mysterious, what with a genetically enhanced protagonist who can transform his arms into creepy claws and a version of New York that doesn’t seem like a nice place to visit. To give everyone a feel of its dark atmosphere, an official website is now up for Prototype (Microsoft Xbox 360, Sony PlayStation 3, Personal computer).
Featuring Alex Mercer, a victim of fiddling with genetics that caused an outbreak of the unknown virus which devastated New York, Prototype promises a “vast array of deadly biological weaponry.” On the game’s website, you’ll learn more about his claws and the capability to attack using ground spikes.
Those who haven’t been keeping tabs on Prototype can also do themselves justice by visiting the official website’s media page, where you’ll find a couple of trailers, a slew of screenshots, and concept art to boot. Find what we’re speaking about by clicking on the “via” link below.

If you remember a certain event in the past about an alleged spouse of an Electronic Arts employee speaking out against the company’s practices in her livejournal, then you might want to know that EA has taken the allegations seriously. So seriously that EA started to conduct surveys to figure out just where they stood, with the latest one conducted recently.
What was the results of the survey, you ask? That 63 of the company felt motivated and excited about their job and are committed to making EA superior. It’s to note that only 77 of the entire EA workforce took the survey. Huh.
While we don’t quite have the results of past surveys to compare them with, EA Executive Vice President of Human Resources Gabrielle Toledano states things have improved considerably since EA Spouse. Her summarization, verbatim:
We’re not in a bad place on this survey. We were in a bad place three to four years ago. There’s simply no tolerance at EA this day for what was going on during EA Spouse.
She credits the rise in overall employee satisfaction and morale to a drastic restructuring move of EA into a “city-state” model – i.e. the splitting of the company into four separate labels, namely EA Games, The Sims, EA Casual Entertainment, and EA Sports.
Well, in any case, it’s certainly good that things are looking up for the employees of EA. Here’s hoping that things continue improving for the company – in all senses of the word. Updates as we get them.

Taking a page from the whole open-world action game genre, Midway Games is set to deliver its own hardcore action game with This is Vegas for the Personal computer, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The upcoming title recently acquired its own space on the IGN blogs for those of you who want to keep yourselves updated with the game.
Patrick Lipo, Studio Creative Director of Surreal Software, made the opening statement on the new developer’s blog. He describes the game as something that players can live out their own idea of a “Vegas fantasy”.
To help players flesh out this rather vague tagline, here are a couple of rules that he outlined which sums up the values of the game:
- Rule #0: Above all else, this is an open-world action game.
- Rule #1: The player must feel cool and take action with style.
- Rule #2: The world must react boldly to the player s actions.
- Rule #3: This isn t realistic Las Vegas, this is a Vegas fantasy.
While Lipo admitted that the dev team has been rather tight with the details of the game so far, he promises that everyone will get to see more updates in the upcoming Midway’s Gamers’ Day this April 17. The event will reveal more media and information when it will finally be released.
Don’t worry, we’ll be keeping a close eye on this title as well as any new updates that we happen to pick up. Don’t forget to drop by from time to time to see if we have anything new regarding Midway Games and This is Vegas.
