Can’t wait to get your hands on Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2? You’ll be happy to know that THQ has stated in a current press release that the game has been dated for spring 2009.

Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War 2 will be running an enhanced version of the Essence Engine 2.0, the same base engine that was used in Company of Heroes: Opposing Front. The new engine is stated to grant more detailed models and textures as well as advanced lighting and shading effects.

It looks like the new engine is being used to good effect in the game judging from the screenshots. Check them out and see for yourself.
