Climax creating PS3, 360 versions of Elveon - Image 1

Climax (who’s currently in charge of bringing Viva Pinata to Windows Computers everywhere) may have more in its portfolio that are worth taking a gander at. From its official site, you can tell that Climax has at least two projects lined up for next generation consoles – one of them being Exiles for the Sony PS3 and Microsoft Xbox 360. The other hasn’t been named, but doesn’t it strike you as being familiar?

That’s probably because the Elvish theme is very much like 10tacle Studios‘ Elveon (PlayStation 3, Windows, Xbox 360).

Codemasters' Rise of the Argonauts video game news: Atalanta info and screenshot - Image 1We haven’t been hearing much about Codemasters‘ Rise of the Argonauts (Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Personal computer) lately, save for the time they dropped a release period last month.

Thankfully, they recently released new information about the game itself to keep us interested – with this new info, perhaps some of us a bit more than others.

In Greek Mythology, the huntress Atalanta was the only female to join Jason’s warriors as he sailed to retrieve the Golden Fleece. Some stories states she didn’t, because Jason refused to have a female on his ship.

Thankfully, Atalanta is present among the crew in Rise of the Argonauts. In the game, Atalanta was orphaned in the jungles of Saria as a young girl. By the time she became a woman, she had become a legend.

Atalanta is a lone huntress, but is also a member of a colony of centaurs. She is skilled with the bow, but she also knows poisons and alchemy which makes her arrows all the more deadlier. Click on the image above to enlarge it.

Sci Entertainment owned character, Lara Croft - Image 1After our previous reports on the status of Lara Croft’s many business suitors, it seems like SCi Entertainment itself has finally confirmed the possibility of opening a major business investment in the near future to help get the company back on track.

The battle for the Tomb Raider home has been going on for quite some time now, with speaks about the company’s acquisition recently opening once again these past few weeks. A statement released from an SCi representative was quoted having stated the following:

The Board of SCi notes the recent speculation about an equity issue and confirms that it is considering a placing and open offer in the near future. This fund raising will be to raise the working capital the Company indicated it required at the time of its interim results on 29 February.

While no specific company was mentioned in the press release, it was recently reported that NBC Universal already has its sights set on acquiring the UK-based game developer. Current shares for SCi have amounted to a staggering 50 million, although there have also been speculations that Time Warner will also increase its own shares in the running some time soon.

Jordan Mechner - Image 1Jordan Mechner, the creator of Karateka and the Prince of Persia series of games, has submitted a trademark application for Prince of Persia Prodigy. Word on the street is that this might be the title of the next PoP game from Ubisoft Montreal.

Not much has been revealed about this upcoming game as of yet, although it might be interesting to see if Mechner will be taking a more active role in the development of this game as compared to Prince of Persia: The Two Thrones.

That stated, there’s really not much we have the ability to do but wait for some official word from Ubisoft or even from Mechner regarding this upcoming game.

Infinity Ward to resume development for Call of Duty franchise - Image 1According to a former employee of Activision’s to-be-shut-down Foster City studio (aka Activision Underground), Infinity Ward is currently negotiating with the company to reclaim exclusive development rights for the Call of Duty franchise.

Infinity Ward was the original developer of CoD 1and CoD 2, as well as CoD 4 (PS3, Xbox 360, Computer, DS).

Call of Duty 3, launched in 2006 for the PS2, PS3, Wii, Xbox 360, and Xbox, had been developed by Activision’s Treyarch studio. The same studio is currently tasked with developing Call of Duty 5.

What makes this rumor all the more interesting is that Infinity Ward’s re-negotiation with Activision may have ties with Underground’s upcoming closure. According to the ex-employee, Underground had been working on two projects before it was shut down: the PS3 port of Enemy Territory: Quake Wars, and a CoD spin-off.

Far from an FOS, the spin-off game would have been a third person action-adventure affair that was expected to become a yearly franchise. Unfortunately, when Infinity started its re-negotiations, it also meant that Activision’s studios could no longer develop any CoD-related games.

At the moment, the validity of this rumor is unclear, given that both Activision and Infinity Ward have yet to comment regarding the negotiations. We’ll leave this in the rumor mill for now, at least until more substantial information can be found.

Afterlight Patch v1.6 now up - Image 1Things just got better for Altar GamesUFO: Afterlight with the release of Patch v.1.6.

What’s great about this is that it contains v1.5 as well. You don’t have to worry if you only have v1.4 in your system. The only drawback with this particular patch is that it only works with DVD versions of the game.

If you acquired your copy through an online download such as Sprocket and Steam, you guys will have to wait for the servers’ release.

Anyway, don’t despair. There’s still a reason to celebrate since there are a couple of repairs and a change in the game included in the patch which we know you guys will enjoy. Here’s the changelog for v1.6:

Fixes

  • Clicking on empty space when all automobiles were at the home base caused the game to lock up
  • Completing a capture mission sometimes yielded a different interrogation research than expected or none at all
  • Capture missions for Reticulan factions didn’t appear again if you failed to finish those missions or if they timed out
  • Matriarch Interrogation research item didn’t show up in the research list until you researched Matriarch Autopsy first
  • Beastman Anatomy training for Reticulans displayed a wrong icon
  • Fixed a peacetime trade contract with Reticulans where they should have offered crystals for items, but only requested items without offering the crystals

Changes

  • DVD check removed (no need to insert the DVD each time you play the game)

Now that you’re fully informed with the things included in the latest Patch, we won’t be standing in your way from downloading it. In order for you to do so, just click away at the link we’ve provided below. Enjoy!
