For the Might issue of Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM), we were treated to a cover featuring 50 Cent. As it turns out, the issue detailed the sequel 50 Cent: Blood on the Sand (Xbox 360, PS3). Now the upcoming June EGM issue will reveal to us the next-gen revival of the classic 1988 arcade game Splatterhouse.
Namco Bandai’s Splatterhouse is considered a pioneer for the survival horror video game genre which spawned Resident Evil and Silent Hill. Now how would the beat ‘em up nature of Splatterhouse translate to next-gen consoles? The EGM June issue will provide a first look.

Interplay Entertainment is fulfilling its promises of sequels and remakes, and they’ve teamed up with Douglas TenNapel, the original creator of Earthworm Jim, to plan a huge comeback for the memorable platforming hero. And part of the plan includes a new title in the series currently plated as Earthworm Jim 4.
As of press time, Interplay’s official announcement via press wire could only divulge that Earthworm Jim is to be relaunched together with a whole new TV series and an entire feature film revolving around the cybernetically-enhanced earthworm.
TenNapel will serve as creative consultant to Interplay’s relaunched in-house development teams, while spearheading the next TV series and feature film. And given that Interplay was behind the creation of some of gaming history’s most iconic game franchises, there’s a lot of anticipation (and hope) that they’d do just as well this day.
Now while the game specifics are as rare as hen’s teeth, we do know that the earlier releases of Shiny Entertainment’s Earthworm Jim touched almost each console available during their time, so expect more of the same this day. We’re currently looking for more updates, so keep tuned in folks.

Acer announced in Monday that a new WiMAX-centric laptop is currently in the works, and the Acer Aspire 5920 will be made available through Sprint Nextel and companies offering WiMAX services. The laptop is slated to sell alongside the WiMAX providers’ subscription options.
Other companies such as Intel will also be taking some units for testing purposes, states Acer PR manager Trisha Pan. Intel was one of many companies behind the development of WiMAX as a global wireless communication standard for mobile platforms. (The UN telecommunications bureau recently approved its global recognition status back in late 2007.)
The Aspire 5920 features a built-in WiMAX access module and is currently being manufactured by contract Personal computer makers Quanta Computer. It is believed that the first units would be available by the end of 2008, though Acer states that the units will not hit the market until the WiMAX providers offer them through their subscription plans.
