Heads up, homebrew developers! Grupo SceneBeta.com is holding the first Scenery Beta 2008, a kinda-contest for homebrew across platforms, namely for the Nintendo Wii and DS, the PSP, and the PC.
Scenery Beta 2008 is officially a homebrew festival, an exhibition (or a fiesta!) of sorts, giving developers a opportunity to showcase their homebrew. However, people will still get a opportunity to win some cash prizes. The group’s giving away more than EUR 2000 (US 3,147) in prizes to the most outstanding works.
The cash prizes will be awarded depending on the score given by other coders, and the community. Each prize tier will also include a 2 GB Pendrive. Each platform will have two categories, with five awards given to each category. The two categories are games and applications.
Winners will be announced on the first of October. Follow the link below for the rules and the instructions on how to enter.
Thanks to Unicorn for the tip!

Activision is keeping its silence about the future of its celebrated Tony Hawk skating franchise. The publisher has refused to confirm whether or not it has assigned developer Robomodo to work on the series in place of former handlers Neversoft.
The publisher gave CVG the stock answer that it “does not comment on rumour and speculation” when confronted with the question. Nonetheless, CVG was quick to point out in its post that there are signs of such a transition.
The site stated that earlier Activision statements suggesting that they want to innovate the series and Robomodo’s confirmation that it’s working for a game under the Activision banner could be signs of the development. Sounds like a nice theory, but we’ll have to wait and see about that.

Following reports that confirmed LucasArts‘ move to sack a hefty number of employees, it’s apparent that at least one of the deposed has joined the “dark side”. He has done so by allegedly leaking information about the game maker’s upcoming projects.
In a post sighted over at Kotaku, it was said that the site received an email with some information about Knights of the Old republic 3 and a non-Lego Indiana Jones game. The email supposedly came from a former employee of LucasArts who was really ticked after he got laid off following six years of service to the company.
The source stated that KOTOR 3 will be an MMORPG which might be a joint effort between BioWare and LucasArts. A “real” Indiana Jones game is also stated to be under development, while another Lego-themed one is being worked on.
In addition, the source said that the Nintendo Wii might very well get a lightsaber game. No peripherals were hinted at, so don’t get your hopes up.
While this word is certainly interesting, we’d like to remind everyone to take it all with a grain of salt. We’ll update you when something more concrete comes out.
